So here I am at work. I am a good prole. I come in when I am told to, and I go work where they need me. This is the sort of thing one does when one works. There are two girls here, who shall remain nameless, who do not do such things. They are told to work somewhere, and they either show up there and leave, or don't go at all.
In order for this to make sense, I must describe my job. For a long while, I worked for the Staten Island Botanical Garden in this Chinese garden. I gave tours, rang people up, supervised weddings, etc. But the Botantical Garden was located on the grounds of this cultural institution, Snug Harbor. This July they merged. THEREFORE I now work for both companies. Which means I can be assigned to work in the Chinese Garden or in the art galleries. There is also an information booth (aka The Kiosk) and a children's castle that I could work at. Today, the girl assigned to work in the back gallery had to leave early to go help out at a play (which is being held elsewhere in Snug Harbor) and one girl (now called Slacker A) was told to replace her. The original girl working there wouldn't have left without having someone replace her, but a half hour later it was reported the back gallery was empty. This was not surprising. Serially Slacker A or B leaves their assigned post so they can sit together in the front gallery. The idea of it is pretty stupid, because not much action happens in the front or back gallery as far as actual labor is concerned. In the front you sell a few tickets here and there and in the back you make sure people don't fuck with art work and direct people to the bathroom. The back is an easier job. Plus as you can see there is a computer here that we are allowed to use. The back is a much better place to work. But they manipulate things and leave things unattended (i.e. NOT DOING THEIR JOBS) so they can hang out together in the front.
Now I understand. They're dating. They have been for a while. They love each other's company. HOWEVER my boyfriend who I have been with for a while and who I am insanely in love with works here too. We do not shirk our duties. That is an incredibly evil thing to do.
grrrrr.
